Although RISHOCAST instrument transformers are very reliable with windings insulated with epoxy resin by vacuum casting method, for your safety use，please be certain to read the followings and use our products correctly.

When using it in the wrong way, it could lead to electric shock or fire.

Installation site

RISHOCAST instrument transformers shall be installed at a place in accordance with the following conditions.

• The ambient temperature -20～40℃ (24 hours average : lower than 35℃).
• Attitude lower than 1000m.
• Not to be exposed to sea-breeze，rain，snow and sunlight.(Humidity: Below 90％.No condensation).
• Free from water vapor, oil vapor, explosive gas, flammable gas or corrosive gas.
• Free from excessive dust or foreign substances.
• Free from Oscillation and Impact.

Installation guide

• Weight of cables or busbars shall not be directly loaded onto the CTs or VTs.
• Primary lead wires or busbars except connection terminal shall be installed with enough clearance from the CTs or VTs to prevent corona discharge.
• Each lead wires shall be correctly connected to the terminal and keep them off the resin cast surface.
• Make sure to connect in accordance with the terminal markings and the connection diagram on name plates.
• Make sure to ground primary terminals of the EVTs.
• Secondary earth terminal and the mounting frame shall be grounded surely.
• Make sure to fasten cables，busbars or lead wires with bolts & nuts.
• The installation should only be performed by an experienced electrician.
• Don't install large CTs ＆ VTs (more than 40kg) upside-down or side-down to the ground.

Maintenance and Inspectlon

• Inspection should be performed once a month to check whether abnormal noise，overheating，corrosion or excessive defacement is found or not.We recommend to attach thermos labels on the surface of terminal.
• Shut down power supply at least once a year，and wipe dust or foreign substance on CTs or VTs with dry cloth.And inspect the appearance，iron cores and loose of bolts and nuts. AS for the detail of maintenance and inspection，please refer to this.
• Maintenance and inspection should only be performed by an experienced electrician.

lt could lead to electric shock.

Do not install the CTs or VTs on hot line.

Do not make the secondary of Current Transformer (CT) open.

lt could lead to fire or dielectric breakdown. When the secondary is open with the primary being live, high voltage will occur at the secondary.

Do not make the secondary of Voltage Transformer (VT) short-circuit.

lt could lead to fire or dielectric breakdown.

When the secondary of VTs is short-circuited or short-circuited with low impedance，excessive current flows on the windings and dielectric breakdown or short-circuit of the primary will occur.

Generally,when the secondary of VTs is short-circuted、fuse at the primary will not work. The purpose of fuse is to protect the circuit when some malfunction occurs at the primary.

Tighten terminal screws with proper tools and appropriate torque.

Too tight torque might damage the terminals and causes malfunctions or fire.
