About vibration damping material

Vibration damping material reduces vibration with converting vibration energy to thermal energy. Noise accompanying with vibration is also reduced.Such materials with viscoelasticity as Rubber or Resin are used as damping layer.Vibration damping material is generally installed as being directly attached to such vibrating surfaces as walls,floors or beams.

RICOCALM has constraining layer of aluminum plate. Damping resin layer has multi layer construction and is designed to have optimal glass transition temperature to convert vibration energy to thermal energy efficiently.

Generally ,material with loss factor of over 0.1 is recognized as excellent damping material. As a test result, RICOCALM showed 0.41 at 500Hz which many other damping material target.

Sound insulation propery

The above graph shows that sound was 10 times reduced as figures on Y-axis increase 20dB as follows.

   10bB → 1/10 , 20dB → 1/100 , 60 → 1/1000

RICOCALM has sound insulation property which can reduce sound of 500Hz to one thousandth.
